Keith Urban's third Brisbane concert, which was to be held Monday night after it was postponed from Sunday night because of the on-going flood emergency in Brisbane and surrounding areas, has now been re-scheduled for Tuesday February 5. Murdena (pictured, runner-up in the Busking Championship) from Geelong won the Coca Cola Battle of the Bands with The Trade-Ins in second place and Will Day & The Alibis from Sherwood (Qld) came third.Ī new competition introduced this year was the Coca-Cola Battle of the Bluegrass which saw George Jackson take out the senior category and Georgia Rose the under 17 category. This year's winner was Joshua Needs from South West Rocks (NSW) – who also won the Busking Championship ( see Monday's story) while Dakota Lee of Young (NSW) took out the Intermediate section and Jayden TJ was named junior winner. King of the Ranges Stockman's Challenge was named best equine entry with the Australian Miniature Horse Association in second place. The best non-commercial or community entry went to Don't Waste Tamworth with second going to the Tamworth Business Chamber and third to Tamworth Songwriters' Association. Second place went to the Tamworth City Dance Academy with the JoHanna Dance Studio and Parry Logistics in third place. Runner up was Ray Lechminka from South Coogee while the audience prize once again went to James Norton from Grose Vale (NSW) and the encouragement prize was won by James Higgins from Nowendoc (NSW). Jamie won a gold plated harmonica mounted on a trophy made by Tamworth craftsman Noel Smith. The event was compered by State Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson, a musician himself. This year's Hohner Golden Harmonica Championship at Tamworth was won by Jamie Symons from Kingscliff (NSW).Įvent organiser Lawrie Minson said it was "another great show" held at The Family Hotel with himself and PJ Kevo as judges.
